The Foundry - take advantage of all of this ....
We were the U.K's first dedicated indoor climbing centre opening in 1991, designed by climbers to provide climbing to suit all from beginner to expert.
If you are coming to the Peak District to climb why not combine it with a visit to The Foundry and sample our great indoor climbing experience. This website gives you all the information you should need to make you want to visit The Foundry.
- The Foundry has 23 Top-roped lines providing approximately 80 routes on a slab (5 ropes) vertical wall (5 ropes) and the featured ' Livingstone wall ' (13 ropes) up to 11m in height. These walls are ideal for the beginner providing routes from Severe to E2, most routes being in the lower grades.
- The Main Wall - Sponsored by Five Ten , our largest lead wall, used for National competitions, is 13m high and 7m overhanging at its steepest section. There are 40 routes from Very Severe into the Extremes with all quickdraws in place. The climbs follow corners, aretes, tiered overhangs and gentle to wildly overhanging faces, all you need is your rope, boots and chalk bag!
- The Furnace lead wall provides a further 30 routes to 13m in height on a very gently overhanging featured climbing surface with pockets and grooves as well as the usual bolt on holds. Routes from Very Severe to E5.
- Routes - The majority of the 150 routes are graded between Severe to E3, though the Troll Wall provides plenty of harder routes for those wishing to train for competitions or those hard routes on the crag.
- The Wave - a 20m long and 4m high curvy resin bouldering wall with 50 set boulder problems at any one time.
- Traversing corridor , 40m long, with 3 graded traverses, excellent for warming up.
- The Office - for those climbers dedicated to the pursuit of power! Provides woody boards from 15 to 45 degrees and two campus boards.
- 10,000 sqft of climbing surface
