The
awesome rock capped mountain of Ceuse stands proud on the periphery
of the southern Alpine town of Gap.
Climbers
from all over the world frequent this magnificent crag as it offers
a variety of stunning climbs on immaculate rock, accompanied by
stunning views.
Location:
The town of Gap nestles in the foothills of the high French Alps.
Two main routes approach it. The northern route follows the Route
Napoleon D94, which snakes its way around the cliffs of the Vercour
and takes 2hrs from Grenoble.
Alternatively, if you take the fly-drive option from the UK and
land in Marseille you approach Ceuse via the main Auto-route (A51)
and takes again approximately two hours. Having bought your weekly
supplies from one of the many excellent supermarkets in Gap follow
the main road to Venyes on the D994 for approximately 6Km.
Then
take a left turn in a small village to Sigoyer D19 sign posted
10km. Once you have reached Sigoyer follow the signs for the Massif
de Ceuse on the D219, which winds its way upwards for 5KM, eventually
taking a right turn at the Camping Les Guerins sign. You have
now reached your base camp.
