Located
just 11 km from Sheffield the Burbage valley includes three gritstone
edges with World famous routes such as Equilibrium, The Brail
Trail and Messiah, as well as some of the best bouldering in the
Peak District. The coarse gritstone rock produces a variety of
holds from horrific off-width cracks, gnarly slopers and tiny
pebbles. Burbage West is the smallest of the edges but contains
classic routes such as West Side Story and Crow Man Meets the
Psychotic Pheasant, but is better known for its intriguing boulder
problems that require technique over pure physical strength.
Location.
The Southern end of the valley is accessed from the A625 Sheffield
- Hathersage road, free parking is located about 1 km past the
Fox House Inn on the right. Burbage West is better access from
the Ringinglow Road about 9 ½ km's from Sheffield, park
in the free parking on either side of the Upper Burbage Bridge.
