Your about to release a new bouldering video called 'Stonelove'
which you made with Ben Pritchard, Is this an area of climbing you
put a lot of effort into? Who impressed you the most out of all
the strong Brit's you've filmed and are there any problems you intend
to go back and try?
At
the moment I am doing lots of bouldering. It¹s one of the easiest
pleasures to take from climbing and at the moment I haven¹t
the energy or drive to do anything different.
Of the people we've met on the trip Mark Katz is one of the people
who's impressed me most, he's got amazing body tension and is beautiful
to watch. Nic Sellers again is awesome to watch. Andy Earl is bloody
strong, John Gaskins has a sick penchant for the smallest of crimps
and of course Malc's (Malcolm Smith) in another league (about four
divisions beyond me!).
When
we were filming there was always this inner conflict between making
the film and wanting to get on the rock, so we shared the camera
work so we could do a bit of bouldering too. It means I've been
left with dozens of unfinished problems right across the country.
I'd love to do sit-down 'Yorkshireman' for the burl factor, 'Mr
Fantastic' for the shear thought that I might look half as good
as the Katz on it, grape nut at Earl Crag because Adam makes it
look such an awesome move.
What
would you say is your most memorable climbing achievement?
Most memorable climbing achievement has to be 'Free-Rider'. It took
so bloody long and of course I've a great home video to help remember
it by.
What
inspires you most for the future?
Fiction film, Hard Edged documentaries.
