Mitake is considered by the locals as possible the greatest bouldering area in the World although they may be slightly biased? The popularity of this area is due to its close proximity to Tokyo and its position next to the river where you can canoe and fish. A lot of the boulders are relatively small although it does include the greatest boulder in Japan 'Ninja-gaeshi no Iwa' which has seven major problems ranging from V8 to V13 and loads of variations.
